Our in-house Architects can design your house using the Passiv Haus Planning Package (PHPP) as a design tool enabling them to keep your house design within the PassivHaus parameters. You can then choose to get Viking House to build your house or put it out to tender.

If you have planning permission already we also can run it through the PHPP to see how it performs and to calculate what the heating requirement will be, you can see then quite easily the effect extra insulation and airtightness has on the size of the heating system you require.
Most of the Passive Houses we build built are designed or put through the planning process by the clients architects. In most cases the design has received planning approval as a conventional building, the client then decides to go passive after this stage. This can have an effect on price as it is easier to achieve passive standard through first principles, like form and orientation than to use technology to achieve the same result. While we can complete any design to passive standard, at costs marginally above conventional build costs. A passive house will have close to half the running costs of a 2010 regulations house. All our designs are put through the Passive House Planning Package to ensure the design optimises efficiency and daylight.
We prefer to design passive houses as bespoke products tailored to your site and circumstances. While we have a set of stock designs, we don't like shoehorning people into standardised plans. The above images are an example of designs developed through the planning service we provide. We have solutions for most budgets. We first visit your site and meet you at home to determine your unique requirements before developing a scheme. The Passive house standard sets onerous performance benchmarks and requires rigorous testing on completion, this ensures that workmanship must be exemplary. For instance the Passive house Standard for air tightness is 20 times better than the building regulations.

We can show a few sites in progress and let you experience completed Passive Houses. We can work as consultants on your project, or as a builder or in a design and build role.
